Located off the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, Cozumel has a sedate atmosphere and is famous for snorkeling, diving and fishing. Hence the island is a popular stop and plays host to many cruise ships. In addition to water-related activities, you can see Maya ruins on and off the island, or enjoy boat trips or even exploring the island which is made up of expanses of sandy or rocky beaches, quite little coves, palm groves, scrubby jungle, lagoons and swamps, and a few low hills.
